Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose you as my doula?
I really take time to build relationships with the families I support. You are never just another client to me. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable and can ask me questions, express your fears, celebrate joys, and make decisions that feel right for you and your family, with no judgement whatsoever. I intentionally don’t take on loads of clients, so that I’m not stretched too thin and can show up fully when you need me.
What are the benefits of a doula?
There is strong evidence showing that women who received continuous support during labour were more likely to have:
A spontaneous vaginal birth.
Decreased likelihood of having a caesarean birth or assisted birth.
Decreased likelihood of needing pain medication or an epidural.
Shorter labour
More positive feelings about their birth experience.
Why did you become a doula?
I have always been passionate about babies and birth physiology. As a mum of three, I know firsthand how much of a difference it makes to have kind support and someone by your side. Becoming a doula has allowed me to combine my passion for caring for others with my belief that every family deserves their birth to be the best it can be. This support shapes how you feel about yourself, how you step into motherhood and the very first experiences your baby has of the world and this really matters to me.
Do you do any other work?
Outside of my work, I am also a volunteer breastfeeding peer supporter having trained with The Association of Breastfeeding Mothers and I work with the charity, Families & Babies in my local area. I can provide breastfeeding support if you wish to breastfeed your baby.
I also own a small baby & mama knitwear business, which I set up whilst bringing up my children. I love to gift my clients with one of my designs.
What does your support look like?
My support is warm, nurturing and completely centred around you and your family’s needs. I am here to stay by your side, listen, reassure and support you so you feel held, heard and never alone during one of life’s biggest transitions. I do not replace your midwife or partner, but support and work alongside them.
How far do you travel?
I travel within an hour’s drive from Christchurch, Dorset for an in-person visit.
